What's New!

November, 2003

Having checked this page and realizing it was two years old...well, shame on me for not updating!

This year I particiated in National Novel Writing Month (visit NaNoWriMo for more details). I managed to take an idea swirling in my head, along with a basic outline I already had, and finished a 90,000+ page novel in less than 30 days. Apparently NANoWriMo has been around for awhile, this is just the first I've heard of it. And it has inspired me to do more writing. I have some other ideas in my head, I'll try to get to them now that I'm inspired. I may never be published, but there's no reason I can't be prolific! You can see my first finished online work here.

In other news, I've left the big, bad city and moved to the 'burbs. I know, such a cosmopolitan girl leaving all the hustle and bustle of the city behind seems odd. But in reality, it's where I needed to be. I've done my "city time" and now I want to concentrate on enjoying my life, my kids, and my home. I couldn't do that where I was. This sort of "forced exile" has been wonderfully rejuvenating, and I love coming home at night. My children have adjusted to the slightly more ruralized setting quite well, have made a ton of new friends, and are settling into the homeschooling routine in a new place as if they'd always done it. My husband is still adjusting to his "new clothes," so there's some tension there, but I think he'll get used to it. At least I don't have that huge, money-sucking, utility-eating house hanging over my head. I've moved back to the world of rentals, and am extremely happy to not be worried about furnaces, plugged up plumbing, and big maintenance projects.

In that vein, I'm going to try to be a little better about putting up my weekly commentaries, and updating my pages. I realize I have NO new pictures of my beautiful children up on this page, and NO pictures of my adorable baby girl, who is now 19 months old! Time to get this thing updated and useful again.

I hope you'll still be coming back to visit regularly. You never know what might be added next!
