I am a resident of the Gateway City (St. Louis, Missouri). I have lived here all my life, although I grew up in the 'burbs and my family comes from farm living. I live in a neighborhood called "The Hill," a place full of Italian and German immigrants. There is even an Italian restaurant behind my house, across the alley! My neighborhood is full of bakeries and restaurants and little old ladies who speak Italian. I love my neighborhood and expecially like being close to everything, since I live in the heart of a busy city. Some might worry about crime, but there is none here, unless it is a crime to have a barking dog or screaming children!
I attended college at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville, now known as Truman State University (President Harry Truman was from Missouri, you know!) and finally, after nearly 20 years, received my bachelor's degree in management and communications from Concordia University - Wisconsin. I can't say I regret any of it, except maybe those few years off I kept taking here and there to have children, keep a job, and be a wife.
My interests are varied and eclectic, as you will tell from these pages. I like lots and lots of things, and I am always open to new things in my life. I am newly married to my Knight in Shining Armor, and am blessed with two children from a previous marriage. In my spare time (yes, I DO have spare time!), I work on my mother's farm. My musical tastes lean toward country and oldies, but I like good jazz, new age, and classical as well. I read, sew, garden, swim, like to lay in the sun on a warm day, and in general enjoy my life.
I am a lab supervisor for the St. Louis Community College at Meramec, where I help disabled students work on their class projects using specialized computer equipment. I love my job.
I also have a small internet design business, Chicken Scratch Productions, and my husband and I have an entertainment company. If you ever need help with a website, I'm your girl! And if you need a clown, we're your source!
When I started out, I had one small web page that I did as a showcase of what I could do. This was so I could get a promotion from administrative assistant to web publisher a couple of years ago. And once I got started on designing my own personal web space, I just couldn't stop! My home page grew from the dozen or so images and files on my farm homepage, to what it is today. My page is so large now that it includes over 500 different files of images and text and is visited by at least 10,000 people each and every month. Every day it seems I am doing something new to my pages. It's become almost an obsession for me; and I enjoy it very much. I also enjoy all the mail I get from the people who visit my web site. And I suppose there's a bit of the exhibitionist in me...I like sharing my ideas and pictures with the world!
